Surf Life Saving NZ (SLSNZ) is truly unique, delivering proactive surf lifeguarding and essential emergency rescue services, a range of public education and beach safety programmes, member education, training and development, as well as being a highly respected sport. We have a vision that no one drowns at the beach in Aotearoa New Zealand.
SurfCom is a communications and dispatch service which provides support for all surf lifesaving operations around Aotearoa New Zealand. National Duty Officers work alongside SurfCom Operators to provide this service.
We are looking for enthusiastic people who are excellent communicators and enjoy working as part of a team. SLSNZ operates SurfCom alongside Coastguard New Zealand in a joint Operations Centre based at the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre, this is also the home of the National Duty Officer during the operational surf lifesaving (SLS) season.
National Duty Officers:
SurfCom is the first point of contact for our partner agencies such as Police, Ambulance and Coastguard for incidents occurring in and around our beaches. SurfCom is a motivated, proactive and enjoyable environment which delivers an efficient and professional service to our Lifeguards and partner agencies nationally. SurfCom is operational 24/7, 365 days a year. The service increases in capacity as demand increases over the peak summer period. A range of employment opportunities are available. National Duty Officers work on a shift-based roster meaning some weekend/evening/on call work is required.
