Club Support Lead – Canterbury Tasman 

(Permanent full-time position – 40 hours per week)

· Key role in supporting Canterbury and Tasman Surf Lifesaving clubs.

Across Aotearoa, our volunteer lifeguards have saved thousands of lives and ensured millions have come home safe after a day at the beach since 1910. 

Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) is truly unique, delivering proactive surf lifeguarding and essential emergency rescue services, a range of public education beach safety programmes and campaigns, member education, training and development as well as a highly respected sport.

This pivotal role provides targeted support to clubs in the Canterbury and Tasman area with the aim of enhancing member development, supporting club sustainability and growing capability. 

· The clubs supported are: – Taylors Mistake, Sumner, South Brighton, New Brighton, North Beach, Waimairi, Spencer Park, Waikuku, Rarangi, Nelson, Buller and Kotuku

You will work collaboratively with the Regional Manager and wider team on opportunities and projects relating to lifesaving, training, sport and community education.

You will coordinate and manage key areas such as club and member development courses: Instructor Courses, Patrol Captains, Area Examiner Briefings, First Aid Courses, Intro to Surf Coach, Official Level 1, IRB Development Camps, Junior Guard School, Intermediate Lifeguard School, the Rookie Lifeguard Programme and supporting Junior Surf and Lifesaving Sports. 

We are seeking applicants with;

· Strong leadership skills – able to empower and inspire others. 

· Clear and concise communication with a strong customer focus. 

· The ability to collaborate embodying our organisational culture and values. 

· Initiative, reliability, and a strong work ethic 

Surf Life Saving knowledge and experience along with broad experience dealing with clubs would be an advantage.

Skills & Experience

  

· Tertiary qualification preferred

· Ability to think laterally

· High level oral and written communication skills, attention to detail

· Problem-solving ability

· Open-minded and passionate about the organization

· Demonstrated capacity to develop strong internal and external relationships.

· Leadership coaching skills (i.e., the ability to lead, develop, support, and positively influence others)

· Surf Life-Saving knowledge of clubs and our member development pathway. 

· Non-biased approach towards members, clubs, and activities within SLSNZ. 

· Professionalism.

· A current and clean driver's license 

· Commitment to the purpose and values of SLSNZ.
